Canarias Gospel Summit to Feature Gospel Legend Leonard Burks
The 6th annual Canarias Gospel Summit in Candelaria, Tenerife, from October 16-19, will feature concerts, workshops, and the Spanish debut of American gospel legend Leeonard Burks.
Candelaria, a town in the south of Tenerife, is getting ready to host the 6th annual Canarias Gospel Summit. This international event, organized by the Gospel School of the Canary Islands as part of the 2025 Canary Islands Gospel Festival, will take place from October 16th to 19th. Most of the activities will be held at the Cine Viejo Cultural Space in Candelaria.
The summit aims to celebrate gospel music, which is very popular in the Canary Islands. There will be concerts, workshops, and activities for people of all ages. A major highlight is American singer Leeonard Burks, the composer of the famous song "Everyday is a day of thanksgiving." He will be in Tenerife to lead a workshop for adults, marking his first appearance in Spain.
The summit kicks off on October 16th with a bass guitar masterclass by Charlie Moreno. On the 17th, Sergio Cebrián will lead an electric guitar workshop, and Leonard Burks will hold his gospel workshop for adults on the 17th and 19th. Lola López will run a gospel workshop for children on the 18th.
On October 18th, the Cine Viejo in Candelaria will host a concert featuring the Canarias Gospel Choir and the Sevilla Gospel Choir at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available at www.tickety.es. On Sunday, October 19th, there will be a final performance showcasing the workshop participants at 1:00 p.m. in the Plaza del Centro Comercial Punta Larga.
The Canarias Gospel Summit is the first gospel event of its kind in the Canary Islands. It features workshops for adults and children, school programs, concerts in places like senior centers, music therapy workshops for children, and free concerts. Leonard Burks is a gospel legend. He has performed with and worked alongside iconic figures like Thomas A. Dorsey and Rev. James Cleveland, and was a member of the renowned quartet The Evangelistic Team. He has also directed choirs at the National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses for many years.
His songs have been performed by artists such as Debbie Austin, Rodney Posey, and Brenda Waters. After inspiring audiences in Asia and Europe, he's now coming to Spain for the first time! He's known for his exceptional choir direction, making every session with him a truly special experience.
