CajaCanarias Production Explores Experiences of Women Born in the 1960s
The CajaCanarias Foundation is hosting the stage production Señoras y señoras, featuring journalists María Guerra and Mariola Cubells, to explore how women born in the 1960s are challenging societal stereotypes regarding aging.
This week, the Canary Islands are turning the spotlight on women born in the 1960s. As part of the CajaCanarias Foundation’s "Spring at the Foundation" cultural series, the stage production Señoras y señoras (Ladies and Ladies) will explore how this generation has challenged traditional social roles.
The show features journalists María Guerra and Mariola Cubells and is based on Cubells’ book, Mejor que nunca (Better Than Ever). More than just a staged reading, the performance combines video, personal stories, and critical discussion to examine how these women have defied expectations regarding aging and life paths. In a country with an increasingly aging population, the show offers a timely look at how women are breaking the stereotypes that have historically held them back in their personal and professional lives as they reach middle age.
The first performance takes place this Thursday at 8:00 p.m. at the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where tickets are already nearly sold out. The production will then travel to La Palma for a second show this Saturday. Those interested in attending can check ticket availability and book their seats through the foundation’s official website.
