The CajaCanarias Foundation's "Jazz Café" series expands its fourth edition with 15 concerts across Tenerife and La Palma, featuring diverse jazz acts including the Esther Ovejero Quintet and Methenology feat. Polo Ortí, all starting at 7:00 PM with included refreshments.
The CajaCanarias Foundation is launching the fourth edition of its "Jazz Café" series, offering a chance to enjoy live jazz music. This year, the project is expanding its reach by adding five concerts in La Palma, which will join the ten sessions already planned for Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
All events will begin at 7:00 PM at the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in both Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Santa Cruz de La Palma. The ticket price includes coffee and herbal tea service, with the musical performance starting at 8:00 PM. For full details and to purchase tickets, please visit www.cajacanarias.com.
The foundation has announced the first seven performances for Jazz Café. The schedule opens on February 4th in Santa Cruz de Tenerife with the Esther Ovejero Quintet. This project is led by Esther Ovejero's distinctive and powerful voice, accompanied by four musicians with established careers in the Canary Islands and across Spain.
Methenology feat. Polo Ortí will headline the second event in Tenerife on March 4th. Methenology is a group dedicated to the music of Pat Metheny, covering his solo work and his Pat Metheny Group repertoire. They perform his music respectfully and emotionally, aiming to convey his artistry and virtuosity.
For this performance, they will be joined by special guest pianist Polo Ortí, an exceptional musician with a strong international career as a composer, teacher, and soloist. This same show will then open the music series in Santa Cruz de La Palma the very next day.
In total, the annual schedule includes ten concerts in Tenerife and five in La Palma, all offering the included coffee and herbal tea service.
On April 8th, Jazz Café will host The Capitals, a Barcelona-based quintet that aims to redefine musical genres and rhythms. They promise an authentic, passionate, and deeply human sound experience. Each concert by The Capitals is an invitation to explore the energetic soundscapes that define them as musicians and individuals.
May 13th will feature Enrique Thompson & Revirado Project, an innovative ensemble that explores the connection between traditional tango and sophisticated contemporary jazz. With intricate arrangements and fluid instrumental interaction, the project transforms Argentine melancholy into a fresh and expansive musical narrative.
The program continues on June 24th with Al farabi. This group was formed in 1989 by Fernando Ortí, José Ángel López Viera, and José Pedro Pérez – three highly trained musicians from Tenerife who are active in the Canary Islands music scene. Al farabi offers an eclectic musical style, incorporating strong ethnic elements inspired by nature. Their compositions are known for their vivid, impressionistic character, balanced harmonies, and colorful instrumentation.
Finally, on July 22nd, Jazz Café will host the Marcelo Gueblón Cuarteto. Gueblón, a musician and composer born in Banfield, Argentina, in 1959, has an extensive career as an instrumentalist, creator, and teacher. After a distinguished career, he returns to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a city where he lived for years, to participate in the series. He will present his most recent project, "Blon," accompanied by exceptional musicians. This summer concert will include pieces from his three solo albums: "On Love," "Xperience," and "Días."
