CajaCanarias Foundation to Host Satélite Teatro Academy Showcase 'La línea'

The CajaCanarias Foundation will host the final showcase of the Satélite Teatro Academy this Monday at its headquarters in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Titled La línea (The Line), the performance marks the end of a training cycle and highlights the value of inclusive creative spaces, where functional diversity is viewed as an asset rather than a barrier.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and follows a pedagogical program that started on September 15. Since then, the third graduating class has attended weekly sessions at the Canary Islands School of Actors, a schedule that will continue through June 24. The play explores themes of boundaries, the human need for belonging, and the pressure to meet social expectations, using theater to challenge conventional norms.

This initiative is part of a growing movement in Spain to professionalize and empower performers with disabilities. By providing a safe and adapted environment, the Satélite Teatro Academy helps participants build their expressive skills through a training model that goes beyond technical instruction. The organization plans to resume its classes after the summer, continuing its commitment to fostering a more empathetic and inclusive perspective on the arts.
