The CajaCanarias Foundation hosts El Patio Teatro's award-winning clay-based physical theatre production "A mano" tonight at its Santa Cruz de Tenerife cultural space.

The CajaCanarias Foundation is adding to its cultural program by featuring "A mano," a play from El Patio Teatro. This company is a leading name in modern physical theatre. The foundation announced that the show will be performed today, Wednesday, at the CajaCanarias Cultural Space in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, offering the public a chance to experience a highly acclaimed international art form.

The play tells a visual story using clay. Clay figures, stage props like a display case and a potter's wheel, and the actions of two performers create a unique world. This approach explores universal themes and aims to connect deeply with the audience's emotions. It's known for its distinct artistic style and the high quality of its handmade elements.

El Patio Teatro was founded in Logroño in 2010 by Izaskun Fernández and Julián Sáenz-López. They have created a unique theatre style by blending ceramics and dramatic art. "A mano," which first showed in 2012, is a perfect example of this. It has won several awards, including the audience award for best show at the Encinart Festival 2012, the Feten 2013 Award for best intimate format show, and awards for best performers at the Valise Festival in Poland, and best show at the Kuss Festival in Germany.

The company, based in La Rioja, has also created other shows like "HUBO" (2018), which is about rural life, and "Conservando Memoria" (2019), which explores memory and everyday life. Their work has been shown beyond Spain, at festivals and theatres across Europe, Asia, America, Australia, and Africa. This highlights how universally appealing their art is. Tonight's show starts at 7:00 PM. Tickets cost three euros and can be bought on the CajaCanarias Foundation website.
