Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife Unveils New Window Installation on Modern Temporality
The Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife has unveiled The Temporality I Inhabit, a new installation by artist Victoria Valiente that invites passersby to reflect on the pace of modern life ahead of the institution's centenary.
As the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife approaches its centenary (1925–2025), it is using its own façade to reflect on the fast pace of modern life. Since Thursday, the institution’s exhibition space, La ventana (The Window), located at 43 Castillo Street in Santa Cruz, has been hosting its ninth artistic project: The Temporality I Inhabit.
Created by Gran Canarian artist Victoria Valiente (born in 2000) and curated by Octavio Zaya, the piece was officially unveiled by the artist, the curator, and the organization’s president, Pepe Valladares. The work is deeply introspective, contrasting the frantic speed of daily life with the necessity of a creative pause. It is a theme frequently explored by young artists today, who are increasingly questioning how we produce and consume art in the public eye.
By placing the exhibit in a window facing the busy city street, the Círculo de Bellas Artes aims to bring contemporary art directly into the daily lives of Tenerife’s residents. This initiative highlights the institution’s commitment to promoting culture and supporting a new generation of Canarian artists, reinforcing its role as a hub for critical thinking as it prepares for its 100th anniversary.
