Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife Unveils New Street-Facing Installation by José Herrera
The Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife has unveiled Escaparate para la noche de lo humano, a street-facing installation by artist José Herrera that will remain on display in Santa Cruz until April 25th as part of the institution's centenary celebrations.
The Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife has reached a new milestone in its centenary celebrations (1925–2025) with the launch of the sixth exhibition in its "La ventana" (The Window) series. Titled Escaparate para la noche de lo humano (Showcase for the Night of the Human), the installation by local artist José Herrera will be on display until April 25th.
Located at the Círculo’s headquarters at 43 Calle del Castillo, the artwork is positioned to be viewed directly from the street. This allows pedestrians to encounter the piece as part of their daily commute, turning a routine walk into an artistic experience. During the opening ceremony, attended by Herrera, Círculo president Pepe Valladares, and curator Octavio Zaya, the space was praised for its ability to spark urban reflection.
Curator Octavio Zaya designed the exhibition to create a dialogue between the viewer and the complexities of modern life. By exploring themes like memory, uncertainty, and emotional fragility, the work encourages passersby to pause and reflect amidst the busy city center. These public art installations not only enrich the cultural life of Santa Cruz but also highlight the Círculo de Bellas Artes’ ongoing commitment to fostering critical thinking within the community.
