The Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife launches its 2026-2027 season this Thursday with two exhibitions featuring artists Jesús de la Rosa and Ayoze Jiménez, aiming to elevate Canarian art within the global contemporary discourse.

The Círculo de Bellas Artes de Tenerife is taking a major step toward expanding its influence on the national and international art scene this Thursday with the launch of its 2026-2027 season. The gallery, located at 43 Calle del Castillo, will open two simultaneous exhibitions designed to place Canarian art at the heart of contemporary global debates.

This launch is part of a broader institutional strategy to give Canarian culture more visibility and connect local artists with international networks. The goal is to move beyond the local scene and join a global conversation that links art with today’s social and political challenges.

The new season features two distinct perspectives. Tenerife-born artist Jesús de la Rosa (b. 1960) presents a retrospective of work from 2001 to 2003, focusing on the evolution of modernity. Meanwhile, Gran Canaria-born artist Ayoze Jiménez (b. 1978) explores the concept of the "border"—not just as a physical line, but as a mental construct that shapes social hierarchies and divisions.

By bringing these two visions together in Santa Cruz, the Círculo de Bellas Artes aims to spark critical thinking, using history and sociology to examine modern-day conflicts. With this season opener, the organization reaffirms its commitment to promoting local talent and placing their work within a wider conversation about identity and society.
