Burger Fest Canarias Returns to La Orotava to Boost Local Economy
La Orotava will host the Burger Fest Canarias on August 7th and 8th, featuring a culinary competition, live music, and locally sourced food to boost the town's economy and tourism.
Tenerife is boosting its local economy through food, with the Burger Fest Canarias coming to La Orotava. The event will take place on August 7th and 8th at the Lercaro parking lot. It aims to support local businesses by highlighting ingredients sourced from the area.
Supported by the City Council and regional government, the festival has been a major success since it began in 2019, drawing nearly one million visitors across more than 30 events throughout the islands. This year’s festival includes a blind tasting competition where the top three burgers will win cash prizes of 500, 300, and 150 euros, plus a "people’s choice" award. The overall winner will also secure a spot in the 2027 regional final at the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Exhibition Center.
Entry to the festival is free, and the menu will cater to various dietary needs, including vegan and gluten-free options, alongside a selection of desserts and beers. Mayor Francisco Linares and Councilor for Commerce Deisy Ramos noted that the event is a great way to bring visitors to the town and strengthen La Orotava’s reputation as a host for major gatherings.
The festival also features a full lineup of live music. On Friday the 7th, Roger S Morgan performs at 6:00 p.m., followed by Juana La Cubana at 9:00 p.m. On Saturday the 8th, the music starts at 2:00 p.m. with MCR Selector, followed by Tana Sandoval at 6:00 p.m. The event concludes with performances by Ni 1 Pelo de Tonto from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and La Maldita, who will play until midnight.
This festival is part of a growing trend in Spain, where towns use themed events to encourage people to visit historic centers and support local restaurants and shops.
