A 24-year-old British tourist has died after falling down a stairwell at an apartment complex in Playa de las Américas, Tenerife. The incident, which occurred early last Saturday morning, has renewed concerns regarding the risks associated with nightlife tourism in the region’s busy hotel districts.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall. Reports indicate that the man had attended an electronic music festival in Costa Adeje the previous day. Upon returning to his accommodation with a companion, he reportedly appeared unusually agitated before the accident occurred. While the investigation is ongoing, police currently believe the death was accidental and have ruled out the involvement of others for now.
Emergency services, including local and national police and medical teams, were dispatched to the scene on Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina. Despite their efforts to resuscitate him, the man was pronounced dead at the site.
Authorities are now working to determine if alcohol or other substances played a role in the man’s agitation and his subsequent fall. The body has been taken to the Institute of Legal Medicine in Santa Cruz de Tenerife for a post-mortem examination, which will help confirm the exact cause of death and conclude the police report.
