BP has reaffirmed its commitment to the Rally Islas Canarias as the official sponsor, highlighting the event's strategic importance as it prepares to join the World Rally Championship calendar in 2026.

BP has reaffirmed its commitment to the Rally Islas Canarias, which is set to return to the World Rally Championship (WRC) in 2026. More than just a sponsorship, this partnership is a central part of the company’s strategy in the Canary Islands, where it operates 59 service stations. BP will remain the official sponsor for the upcoming event, scheduled for April 23–26.

As the only WRC stop in Spain, the rally has been designated an "Event of Exceptional Public Interest" by the national government. This status reflects the event's massive impact; the 2025 edition drew half a million spectators and generated over 50 million euros for the local economy. For BP, the rally serves as a high-profile platform to showcase its focus on technological innovation, as elite motorsport has long been a testing ground for developing more efficient fuels and mobility solutions.

At a recent meeting hosted by the Domingo Alonso Group, BP’s commercial director of mobility and convenience, José Luis García-Broch, emphasized that the sponsorship is a key driver for long-term growth in the region. By aligning with the WRC, BP gains global visibility while demonstrating its dedication to the islands' socioeconomic development.

This ongoing partnership strengthens BP’s role in the local energy sector. By leveraging the popularity of motorsport, the company is not only building its reputation but also deepening its connection with customers through an event that has become a cornerstone of the Canary Islands' sports and tourism calendar.
