The Bolivian community in the capital will celebrate the Virgin of Urkupiña this weekend with a series of religious services, traditional folk dances, and a commemorative procession through the Salamanca neighborhood.

This weekend, the capital will host one of the most important cultural and religious events for the local Bolivian community. The festivities in honor of the Virgin of Urkupiña will transform the area around the Fátima Church square in the Salamanca neighborhood into a vibrant hub of tradition, community spirit, and cultural heritage.

These celebrations are a long-standing tradition for the Latin American community in Spain, serving as a vital link between their roots and their life in the host country. The two-day program begins this Friday at 5:30 p.m. with a religious service, followed at 6:30 p.m. by a showcase of folk dances.

The main events take place on Saturday, starting with a solemn mass at 10:00 a.m. featuring the traditional hymn to the Virgin. From 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., a procession and parade will travel through the streets of Febles Campos, El Olvido, Los Sueños, and Poeta Tomás Morales. The celebration will conclude with a social gathering at the Xanadú restaurant in Las Chafiras, marking another year of strengthening the bonds of the Bolivian community in the capital.
