Body of Man Found on Hiking Trail in Tenerife’s Anaga Mountains
Authorities have launched an investigation after hikers discovered a man's body on a remote trail in Tenerife’s Anaga mountains.
A man’s body was discovered this morning on a hiking trail in the El Draguillo area of Anaga, Tenerife, near Benijo. Two hikers found the man and alerted the 112 Canary Islands emergency service.
The rugged, steep terrain of the Anaga mountains makes rescue and recovery operations particularly difficult. Following the report, a team including the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Local Police, the island’s fire department, and the National Police was sent to the scene.
Authorities have followed standard procedures for deaths in public areas, securing the site for the removal of the body under judicial supervision. The National Police are now investigating to identify the man and determine the cause of death. In remote areas like this, a thorough forensic analysis is required to rule out foul play or confirm if the death was accidental.
This incident serves as a reminder of the risks associated with challenging hiking routes, where difficult terrain and poor mobile phone coverage can complicate both safety and emergency responses.
