Canary Islands: Four deaths in traffic accidents over the weekend

Over the past week, four drivers have died in traffic accidents in the Canary Islands, and other accidents with injuries have occurred.

Over the past week, from Friday to Sunday, four drivers died in traffic accidents in Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, La Palma, and Tenerife. The latest tragedy occurred on Sunday in Tenerife, where a 51-year-old motorcyclist crashed into the wall of a sports ground in Arona. Unfortunately, the man died at the scene.

Rescuers received a call at 13:18 and immediately went to the scene of the accident. Unfortunately, paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist dead – the injuries were incompatible with life.

Police officers also worked at the scene.

The first accident occurred on Friday evening, around 19:40, in the town of Firgas. There, a motorcyclist collided with a car on the GC-300 highway and died.

Rescuers pulled the body of the deceased from under the car. Medics who arrived at the scene only confirmed the death.

The police are investigating the circumstances of this accident.

Another tragedy occurred on Saturday at 6 a.m. near the town of Tuineje. There, a 39-year-old car driver died in a head-on collision with a bus on the FV-20 highway.

Medics who arrived at the scene could no longer help the car driver. The bus driver sustained injuries, but they are not serious. He was taken to a hospital in Fuerteventura. The police are investigating this accident.

On Sunday, another motorcyclist's death was reported. He died after colliding with a car on the road to the port of Tazacorte, in La Palma.

Rescuers received a report about this accident on Saturday evening, around 20:43. Unfortunately, medics who arrived at the scene pronounced the motorcyclist dead.

In addition, on Saturday night, October 11, 2025, another accident occurred in Tenerife, near the Martiánez tunnel in Puerto de la Cruz. A car crashed into the wall of the tunnel. Three young people were injured, one of them seriously.

The report about this accident was received at 02:36. Rescuers immediately went to the scene.

Medics provided assistance to the three passengers of the car. A 22-year-old man with a severe head injury was taken to a hospital in the Canary Islands. A 20-year-old girl with a moderate hip injury was also taken to this hospital. And a 21-year-old man with neck pain was taken to another hospital.

Rescuers had to free two people who were trapped in the car. The police regulated traffic and drew up a report on the accident.

Traffic was partially disrupted while rescue operations were underway.

Also on Saturday evening, two people, a man and a woman, were injured when a motorcycle ran off the road and crashed into a guardrail on the Los Roques road, near the town of Fasnia.

Police officers and medics were the first to arrive at the scene. They provided first aid to the victims, and then they were taken to the hospital.
