Binter's ATC, ULL Sign Aviation Training Deal
Aeronautical Training Canarias (ATC) and the University of La Laguna (ULL) have partnered to create aviation, air transport, and logistics training programs, aiming to boost specialized employment and meet industry needs in the Canary Islands.
Aeronautical Training Canarias (ATC), a company within the Binter group, and the University of La Laguna (ULL), through its General Foundation, have signed a partnership. This agreement aims to create training and qualification programs in aviation, air transport, and logistics.
The agreement was signed at ATC's main office. Santiago Guerra, Binter's general coordinator, and Francisco García, ULL's rector, were present.
Santiago Guerra highlighted that this partnership shows Binter's dedication to the Canary Islands, its people, and its economic growth. He added that it would create specialized jobs, boosting the local job market. Guerra stated, "This agreement puts ULL students at the forefront of specialized in-person and online training in a sector that needs more professionals."
Francisco García from ULL emphasized that partnering with Aeronautical Training Canarias is a key move for the university. It aligns with their goal of providing training and qualifications in collaboration with local businesses, specifically in aviation and air logistics. He explained that ATC is an approved vocational training center, and it's the only one in the Canary Islands to offer an aircraft maintenance technician degree.
ATC, ULL, and FGULL have previously worked together on projects involving the digitalization of transport and logistics. These collaborations revealed many opportunities, particularly for expanding training in this fast-growing sector, which is vital for the Canary Islands. This new agreement will therefore help create training programs that meet the specific needs of aviation companies and professionals.
The agreement will enhance the skills of university graduates in aviation, logistics, and transport. It will also broaden the range of training available, uncover new chances for research, teaching, and sharing knowledge in these fields, and strengthen the ties between ULL, FGULL, ATC, and Binter.
This partnership will lead to new training courses in aviation and related logistics and transport, designed to match industry needs and promote a "micro-credential" approach. They will also set up shared workspaces for all partners and other important groups. This will help find new opportunities for research, teaching, and sharing knowledge. Additionally, a pool of teachers and researchers will be identified to contribute to these activities.
Aeronautical Training Canarias (ATC) is a leader in aviation training, air transport, and logistics. Its comprehensive campus focuses on three main goals: developing a new generation of aviation professionals in the Canary Islands and growing the local aviation sector; serving as a specialized training center for ATR and Embraer aircraft; and acting as a job placement agency to boost employment in the sector across Spain.
The center is officially recognized by SEPE as a Private Placement Agency. It boasts an employment rate of over 90% in the aviation sector, thanks to its partnerships with major Canary Islands airlines. ATC also has agreements with several cabin crew schools, offering scholarships to students and helping more professionals enter the workforce.
ATC offers courses for aircraft maintenance technicians. This includes a dual training program, open to those with or without a university degree, which leads to an AESA aircraft maintenance license or a higher degree in aeromechanical maintenance for turbine-powered aircraft. Their training catalog also features specialized airport training, dangerous goods handling, auditing, and refresher courses for aeronautical maintenance.
