Binter and the Cantabrian government have launched a new partnership to boost tourism and strengthen direct flight connectivity between the Canary Islands and northern Spain.

Efforts to improve air travel between the Canary Islands and northern Spain reached a new milestone this week. Following a meeting in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the airline Binter and the public agency Cantur announced a new partnership designed to increase tourism to Cantabria. This collaboration highlights how public and private sectors can work together to secure vital routes in a competitive travel market.

The event, held at the Hotel Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey, brought together around 100 representatives from 25 local travel agencies. The goal was to showcase Cantabria as a destination and explain the logistics of Binter’s direct flight network. Currently, Binter operates daily flights connecting Santander with Tenerife North, Gran Canaria, and Lanzarote, as part of a wider network that serves 21 national and 10 international destinations.

Beyond promoting the region, the event underscored the ongoing importance of travel agents. Even as online booking becomes more automated, organizers emphasized that the personalized advice provided by travel professionals remains a key factor in attracting visitors.

The meeting featured presentations, networking sessions, and a showcase of Cantabrian cuisine, reflecting a commitment to professionalizing how these services are marketed. By working together, Binter and the Cantabrian government aim to boost passenger numbers and ensure the long-term stability of a route that has become essential to the economic and tourism growth of both regions.
