Beatriz Barrera Vera has been elected as the first female president of the Real Casino de Tenerife in its 185-year history.
Beatriz Barrera Vera has made history as the first female president of the Real Casino de Tenerife (RCT) in its 185 years. She was elected in a vote held last Tuesday.
Barrera's campaign, called "A Casino for Everyone," won with 436 votes out of nearly 1,000 cast. María Jesús de Lojendio came in second with 366 votes, and Patricia Hodgson Ravina was third with 192.
Barrera Vera will lead the Real Casino de Tenerife for the next four years. She previously headed the Zona Especial Canaria (ZEC) and served as Deputy for Equality in the Diputación del Común.
Her election marks a fresh start for the Casino after a difficult period under the previous leader, Miguel Cabrera Pérez-Camacho, who faced several lawsuits. Barrera Vera's new board includes Miryam Machado Alique as first vice president, Arturo Trujillo Martín as second vice president, and María Raquel Alejano Góme as secretary.
Other key members of the board are Blanca Muiños Tabares de Nava (deputy secretary), Carlos Enrique González Martín (treasurer), Corviniano Clavijo Rodríguez (accountant), Javier Cabrera Guimerá (deputy accountant), Mariano Gambín García (librarian), Eugenia Álvarez Montes (first member), Arsenio Pérez Amaral (second member), and Sergio Batista Díaz (third member).
