Batistana Tenerife Dominates Second Phase of Spanish Group Cup
Batistana Tenerife reaffirmed its national dominance by securing two gold medals in the senior and junior categories during the second phase of the Spanish Group Cup in Castellón.
Canarian rhythmic gymnastics reaffirmed its national dominance this weekend in Castellón, as Batistana Tenerife solidified its lead during the second phase of the Spanish Group Cup. The Tenerife club added two more gold medals to its collection, setting a high bar in both the senior and junior categories.
The senior team—Martina Gómez, Shayna Hazan, Carla Sosa, Gabriela Rodríguez, and Daniela Santana—delivered a decisive performance. Scoring 22.800 points, they beat their own record from May and finished 0.800 points ahead of the Valencian team, Benifaio. This win was part of a strong showing by the Canarian delegation, which also featured impressive performances from Praxis and Corza’s Maspalomas, the latter helping secure the regional title with strong results in the children’s and First categories.
In the junior category, Batistana Tenerife improved on its previous ranking. The group of Valentina Bautista, Violeta Jiménez, Serena Nazareth González, Emma Soria, Valeria Silvi, and Alejandra Herrera scored 21.500, finishing more than a point ahead of Corza’s Maspalomas. Elsewhere, the Tenerife club took fifth place in the First category, while Odisea Tenerife finished eighth in the children’s division.
This competition marks the start of a break until late November, when the National Base and Spanish championships resume. The event also highlighted individual talent: Valentina Bautista, who previously shone at the Absolute National Championship in Guadalajara, has been invited to a final training camp on July 7 at the High Performance Center in León. She will compete against thirteen other gymnasts for a spot on the national junior team, a testament to the high level of technical training currently taking place on the islands.
