In El Caleton, swimming pools were closed due to E. coli bacteria.

The natural pools of El Caletón in Garachico have been temporarily closed for swimming. Too many E. coli bacteria were found in the water. This was announced by the city council on Wednesday.

Water samples were taken yesterday, and the results showed that the level of bacteria exceeds the norm. Therefore, it was decided to close the pools this morning to protect people.

Another water sample has now been taken for analysis. It will show whether the water quality has improved.

The city council also checked the sewage system to make sure that no sewage is entering the pools. Everything turned out to be in order.

As soon as the pools reopen, the city council will inform immediately. In the meantime, they apologize for the temporary inconvenience.
