The third annual "Cañas y Camarones" fair will take place in Bajamar on July 11, 2026, to celebrate local fishing heritage and boost the regional economy through gastronomy and commerce.

Bajamar is once again positioning itself as a hub for economic growth on the La Laguna coast. Following a recent announcement at the Casa de los Capitanes, officials confirmed that the third annual "Cañas y Camarones" gastronomic and commercial fair will take place on July 11, 2026.

The event will be held near the natural swimming pools from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. It is part of a broader strategy to celebrate local fishing heritage rather than just serving as a leisure activity. Representatives from the La Laguna City Council, the Tenerife Island Council, and the Canary Islands Government explained that the date was moved to the second Saturday of July for a specific reason: it aligns with the peak biological cycle of local shrimp, ensuring the highest quality product for visitors.

Beyond the food, the fair serves as a platform for local businesses. The event will feature a market with thirteen local vendors and a lineup of six musical performances. Officials emphasized that this format is designed to support a sustainable tourism model that directly benefits local producers and restaurant owners.

The event highlights Bajamar’s long-standing history as a coastal destination, a status it has held for sixty years. What started as a one-time celebration has evolved into a significant economic driver. Organizers expect thousands of attendees, reinforcing the importance of maritime gastronomy to the local economy and the identity of the Canary Islands.
