A mural in central Barcelona featuring artist Bad Bunny, originally created to promote peace and protest immigration policies, has been repeatedly vandalized with anti-foreigner hate speech, highlighting a concerning rise in public xenophobia.

A mural in central Barcelona featuring the artist Bad Bunny has been vandalized repeatedly with messages showing hatred of foreigners. This highlights a worrying increase in hate speech in public spaces. The artwork, by Alberto Le贸n, was originally created to promote peace and cultural harmony. However, it has been defaced again with inscriptions such as "South Americans out of Spain and USA."

Even though the mural has been restored after this and an earlier attack, it now shows many flaws and traces of paint from previous repairs. This damage was documented by the content creator Barcelona.lives on their Instagram profile.

The artwork shows the Puerto Rican singer next to a child who was detained in Minneapolis by US immigration officials (ICE). Both figures are dressed in white. The mural also features an American football with the words "Together we are America." Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump, dressed in black, looks on with disapproval. Artist Alberto Le贸n previously told the EFE news agency that he created the mural to share a message: "the only thing more powerful than fear is love." Bad Bunny spoke these words during his Super Bowl performance, and the mural was meant as a protest against the immigration policies of the then-Republican leader, Donald Trump.
