Lucien Epiney and Azara García de los Salmones claimed victory at the grueling Ultra Trail Reventón El Paso on La Palma, reinforcing the island's status as a premier destination for elite mountain racing.

The Ultra Trail Reventón El Paso Fred.Olsen Express proved once again this past Saturday why it is one of the toughest mountain races in Spain. Held on the island of La Palma, the event challenged runners with a grueling 70.6-kilometer course featuring 8,158 meters of total elevation gain, making it one of the most technically demanding races in the country.

Azara García de los Salmones dominated the women's field, continuing her impressive run of success at this event since 2016. The Cantabrian runner finished in 8:22:08, placing eighth overall. Following her recent win at the Subida a las Estrellas, this victory further cements her legacy in La Palma. She was joined on the podium by Galician runner Aroa Sio Seijo, who finished in 8:28:16, and Tatiana Cruz from Gran Canaria, who took third with a time of 9:26:11.

In the men’s category, Swiss runner Lucien Epiney took the top spot. He was the only athlete to break the seven-hour mark, finishing in 6:57:54. Tenerife’s Alexis Martín Lorenzo followed in second place with a time of 7:10:15, while Manuel Mesa Labrador of Club Deportivo Extremadura Trail rounded out the podium in 7:51:05.

This year’s race highlights the growing importance of trail running in the Canary Islands. La Palma’s rugged terrain and steep climbs require more than just physical strength; they demand strategic pacing and technical skill. By successfully hosting another elite competition, the island continues to establish itself as a premier destination for world-class trail runners.
