Preliminary autopsy results confirm Juan Manuel Alonso Fumero, who killed his 10-year-old son and seriously injured his partner in Tenerife before being fatally shot by a Guardia Civil officer, had cocaine and marijuana in his system.
Preliminary autopsy results have confirmed that Juan Manuel Alonso Fumero, 35, had cocaine and marijuana in his system. Last Friday, February 20, in Arona, Tenerife, he killed his 10-year-old son and seriously injured his 26-year-old partner. This information, shared with Guardia Civil investigators by the Institute of Legal Medicine in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is part of an incident categorized as vicarious and gender-based violence, which has deeply shocked society.
The attack happened early Friday morning at his home in the Cabo Blanco neighborhood. Alonso Fumero used a 60-centimeter machete to attack his family. Neighbors heard the woman's screams. They forced open a metal gate and went inside, where they found the child dead and the woman with many serious injuries.
When security forces arrived, they could not stop the attack. Alonso Fumero then wounded a Guardia Civil officer in the shoulder with the machete. The officer shot Alonso Fumero three times, killing him in the street on Paseo Santa Eulalia as he pursued the officers. The investigation is ongoing to determine the concentration of the drugs found and their possible influence on his behavior.
