Authorities Launch New Animal Abuse Probe at Santa Cruz Property Following Repeat Offenses
Authorities in Santa Cruz de Tenerife have launched a new animal abuse investigation after rescuing two neglected puppies from a structurally unstable property that was the site of a similar raid just months prior.
Repeat animal abuse at a property in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has raised serious concerns about the effectiveness of current monitoring and safety measures. Authorities recently intervened at 28 Febles Campos Street, where they discovered two puppies—a pit bull and a Belgian Malinois—suffering from extreme neglect and lacking basic food and water.
This case is particularly alarming because the same property was the subject of a police raid in September 2025. During that previous operation, officers removed seven animals, including five dogs and two birds of prey, from unsanitary conditions. Although the home was sealed off at the time, the occupant managed to regain access. The National Police have now launched new judicial proceedings for alleged animal abuse.
The latest rescue was a joint effort between the National Police and the Local Police’s Proteu group, prompted by neighbors reporting persistent foul odors and strange noises coming from the building. The rescued puppies have been taken to the Valle Colino shelter for urgent veterinary care.
Beyond the animal abuse charges, police reports indicate that the building itself is in a state of advanced decay and at risk of collapse. This structural instability adds a dangerous layer of complexity to the case, highlighting how the property has once again become a site of extreme vulnerability despite previous police intervention.
