The Auditorio de Tenerife will host the national premiere of Les Ballets de La Argentina on June 4 and 6, a collaborative production directed by Carolina África that honors the legacy of dancer Antonia Mercé.

Spanish dance heritage is enjoying a revival as the Auditorio de Tenerife prepares to host the national premiere of Les Ballets de La Argentina. The production, running on June 4 and 6 at 7:30 p.m., honors Antonia Mercé, the legendary dancer who brought Spanish dance to the forefront of the European avant-garde in 1929.

This project is a major collaboration between several prestigious institutions, including the Juan March Foundation, the Teatro de la Zarzuela, and the Palau de les Arts. Under the artistic direction of Antonio Najarro, the production revives original scores by Julián Bautista and Isaac Albéniz, paired with the classic visual aesthetic of Néstor Martín-Fernández de la Torre. Tenerife designer Yaiza Pinillos has updated the costumes, while the Tenerife Symphony, led by conductor Manuel Coves and featuring guitarist Sohta Nakabayashi, will provide the music. Directed by Carolina África, the show features a cast of thirteen dancers.

Tickets are priced at 15 euros, with a reduced rate of 5 euros for those under 30. Further discounts are available for students, the unemployed, and large families. Tickets can be purchased via the auditorium’s website, by phone, or at the box office during morning hours, Monday through Saturday.

Additionally, the auditorium will conclude its piano season next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Chamber Hall. The Dúo del Valle, featuring brothers Víctor and Luis del Valle, will perform a recital titled El jardín de lo imposible (The Garden of the Impossible). The program explores the technical range of piano four-hands with works by Ravel, Milhaud, Ligeti, and Poulenc, highlighting the venue's ongoing dedication to high-quality chamber music.
