The Auditorio de Tenerife has launched a free, collaborative performing arts workshop for teenagers aged 11 to 15 to explore identity and self-expression in the digital age.

The Auditorio de Tenerife has launched a new educational program for teenagers aged 11 to 15, designed to explore how we build our identities in the digital age. Titled Selfie. Being Young in the Society of the Spectacle, the initiative offers a space for young people to reflect on how they navigate life between the physical world and the digital one.

Led by performing arts experts Juan Ayala and Miguel Oyarzun, the program moves away from traditional classroom learning in favor of a collaborative, creative approach. The free workshop will be held at the Auditorio’s "La Salita" from November 4 to 15, consisting of nine sessions. Participants will explore a variety of disciplines, including drama, choreography, video production, and sound design, allowing them to use their own skills and interests to help shape the project.

Community theater projects like this are becoming increasingly important, as cultural organizations look for ways to turn young people from passive observers into active participants. By combining digital tools with the arts, the workshop encourages students to express themselves while questioning how social media and screens shape their sense of self.

The program will wrap up with two public performances: Saturday, November 14, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, November 15, at 12:00 p.m. Because space is limited, those interested in joining should email artesescenicas@auditoriodetenerife.com to register. No prior experience is necessary, as the project is designed to be inclusive and focused on collaborative learning and artistic discovery.
