Auditorio de Tenerife Hosts Weekend Showcase of Emerging Musical Talent
The Auditorio de Tenerife is hosting a weekend of free performances featuring the Professional Conservatory of Music’s Plucked String Orchestra and a showcase of local bands as part of the long-running "Musical Spring" series.
The Auditorio de Tenerife is showcasing the next generation of musical talent this weekend, highlighting the strong partnership between local government and arts education centers.
On Saturday at 6:00 p.m., the Chamber Hall will host the Plucked String Orchestra from the Professional Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Led by Miguel García Ferrer, this ensemble features guitar and timple students who use the group as a practical training ground to refine their technical skills and teamwork. The performance, which is free to the public until capacity is reached, is part of a collaboration between the Department of Culture and the conservatory to give students professional orchestral experience. The program will feature the full ensemble, as well as performances by classical guitar soloists and a trio playing the timple, guitar, and cuatro.
The music continues on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. with the latest installment of the "Musical Spring" cycle. This concert will bring together over 145 musicians from three local bands: the Nivaria Band of Arafo, the Arona Band, and the San Sebastián de Tejina Band from La Laguna. Admission to this event is also free until the venue is full.
The "Musical Spring" series has been a staple of the island’s cultural scene since 2005. Organized by the Tenerife Federation of Music Bands with support from the Cabildo de Tenerife, these events celebrate the grassroots work of local musicians, which remains vital to preserving the archipelago's musical heritage.
