Atlantic Jazz Lab Tours Canaries with Glenn Miller Tribute
The Atlantic Jazz Lab Orchestra, led by Natanael Ramos, is touring the Canary Islands through December with a Glenn Miller tribute, offering concerts and masterclasses as part of their #Nowinterfest series.
The Atlantic Jazz Lab Orchestra, led by trumpeter Natanael Ramos, is touring the Canary Islands to pay tribute to American musician Glenn Miller. Miller was a master of swing whose unique sound influenced jazz, pop, and even cinema. This tour is part of the orchestra's #Nowinterfest series.
The regional government supports this tour through Turismo de Islas Canarias and the Instituto Canario de Desarrollo Cultural.
All concerts begin at 8:00 PM. The tour starts today, Friday, at the La Geria Auditorium in the Barceló Playa Blanca Hotel, Lanzarote. It continues tomorrow, Saturday, at the Hotel Bancal in La Gomera, and on Sunday at the Antigua Auditorium in Fuerteventura.
More concerts are scheduled for December. On December 5th, the orchestra will play at La Fábrica del Pienso in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. On December 6th and 7th, there will be two shows at the Hotel Botánico in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife. Finally, on December 8th, the orchestra will perform at Finca La Principal in La Palma. The young musicians from The Jazz Influencers will join the main band for the December 6th and 7th shows.
Tickets for all performances are available on the official website: www.atlanticjazzlab.org.
The Atlantic Jazz Lab is more than just an orchestra. A key goal for Natanael Ramos's project is to spread cultural events beyond major centers, bringing jazz to every island and all audiences, despite the challenges of a scattered region. Ramos also aims to find and support young musical talent, no matter where they live in the islands. This led to the creation of The Jazz Influencers, a youth jazz orchestra that is already proving successful.
These aren't just concerts. The organizers highlight that each performance is also a masterclass. Natanael Ramos and the other musicians will explain the history and importance of each Glenn Miller piece they play.
