La Orotava: Young Art Fair and sports festival this weekend

The 26th Young Art Fair will take place in La Orotava this weekend, with an exhibition of works by 500 young artists and sports activities for the whole family.

This weekend, La Orotava will be a true celebration of creativity! Young talents from all over the city will take to the streets to showcase their skills at the Young Art Street Fair.

This year, the fair, which will be held for the 26th time, has prepared many interesting things. On Saturday, May 18, from evening until night, an entertainment program with music, DJs, and various activities awaits you. And on Sunday, May 19, more than 500 young artists will showcase their works in the open air.

This was announced at a press conference in the city hall, attended by the mayor of the city, Francisco Linares, government representative Serafín Mesa, and youth affairs advisor Darío Afonso.

Francisco Linares is proud that La Orotava was the first in the Canary Islands to support young people and give them the opportunity to show their talent. He also noted that for many, this fair has become the start of a successful career.

Serafín Mesa added that supporting young people is a priority for the government, and they are happy to cooperate with La Orotava, which always supports useful initiatives for young people.

Darío Afonso said that this year's fair program will be divided into two days. On Saturday evening, on Carrera Escultor Estévez Street, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., there will be music, DJs, and various entertainment. And on Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., you can see the works of young artists in various genres: music, painting, photography, dance, theater, graffiti, and much more. The stages will be located on Avenida Canarias, Carrera Escultor Estévez Street, and Ayuntamiento Square.

The author of this year's fair poster is artist Valeria María Expósito Francisco, who won the competition. She used bright colors to convey the festive atmosphere and depicted various types of art so that everyone could find something for themselves. In her opinion, the fair is not just an event, but a place where people can enjoy culture and support young talents.

In addition to the fair, a sports event for the whole family called La Orotava Activa will be held in the city on Saturday. On Avenida Mercedes Pinto, you can try various sports offered in the city.

Sports Advisor Carlos Díaz said that from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., everyone will be able to play sports, have fun with their family, and try their hand at various activities such as basketball, pickleball, football, boxing, skateboarding, archery, table tennis, chess, Canarian wrestling, rally simulator, FIFA Zone, Just Dance, Zumba, and others.
