In the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, police arrested a man who robbed an elderly woman right on Tres de Mayo Street, where there are always many people.
This happened on September 13th around one o'clock in the afternoon. The woman was returning home when she was attacked from behind.
The attacker abruptly snatched her bag. The woman fell and was dragged along the ground until he took her belongings.
Due to injuries sustained during the robbery, she received assistance at the Los Gladiolos Hospital.
The police investigated the case and arrested the suspect. It turned out that he was involved in eight more similar robberies. He attacked people in broad daylight and stole bags or wallets.
The court decided to take him into custody, as the police had gathered enough evidence of his involvement in these crimes.
The police say that thanks to the quick reaction, the case was solved in a few days, which helped people feel safer on this important street in the city.
"We must ensure the safety of citizens and prevent such crimes, especially against those who need special protection," said the Tenerife police.
