Arona City Council has unveiled a new mural by artist Alba Lapeña at the Los Cristianos Cultural Center, celebrating the area's rich folklore and cultural heritage.

Arona City Council is putting up a new mural on the outside of the Los Cristianos Cultural Center. It's a tribute to the local traditions and culture of the area. This project, led by the Department of Historical-Cultural Heritage and Culture, aims to share important cultural heritage in public places.

Arona's Mayor, Fátima Lemes Reverón, and the Councilor for Historical-Cultural Heritage and Culture, Naím Yánez Alonso, visited the mural. They were joined by members of the town's folklore groups. This visit showed how vital these groups and the Municipal School of Folklore are in keeping Arona's traditions alive and passing them on.

The mural was created by artist Alba Lapeña (@Albalapintora). It tells the story of Arona's folklore and how it has lasted through time. This cultural expression is seen as a living legacy, kept alive by the ongoing efforts of the folklore groups and the Municipal School of Folklore. While some specific groups are shown in the artwork, they represent all the folklore groups in the area.

The artwork features a man and a woman in traditional Chasna costumes. It also includes elements of traditional dance and popular music, which are key symbols of southern Tenerife. The mural is designed to share cultural heritage. It's a permanent and beautiful addition to Los Cristianos, helping both locals and visitors connect with the town's history and traditions.

The mural is on the side of the Los Cristianos Cultural Center, right where the Municipal School of Folklore is located. This placement helps connect the school, where traditions are taught, with this visual celebration of the cultural heritage passed down through generations.
