Arona Police Intensify Street Vendor Crackdown in Tourist Zones
Arona police are intensifying street vending controls in tourist areas to enhance public safety, clear public spaces, and support local businesses, having already conducted hundreds of operations and confiscations this year.
Local police in Arona, working with the National Police, are stepping up efforts to control street vending in the town's busiest tourist spots.
These operations, which have become more frequent recently, are designed to ensure public safety, keep public spaces clear, and support local businesses.
Officers from both police forces are regularly patrolling key areas along the Arona coast. They are identifying street vendors and confiscating goods being sold illegally.
This year alone, Arona Local Police have recorded 168 confiscations and been involved in 320 operations across the municipality.
Héctor Reyes, the Local Police Councilor, stated that these checks are part of a combined plan to boost security in major tourist areas. He emphasized that their main goal is to ensure a safe and orderly environment for everyone, including residents and tourists.
Reyes also mentioned that the Security department is investing in better equipment and technology for the Local Police. He added that new officers will soon be joining, which will allow them to increase these types of actions and also have a stronger police presence in all neighborhoods.
The councilor concluded by saying that they will continue this approach, improving cooperation between police forces and increasing visibility on the streets, as safety and community living are essential for Arona.
