A large-scale construction project is planned for Arona and El Mojón, with almost 9,000 housing units, new roads, and parks, making it the largest construction project in the Canary Islands in the last 30 years.

Today, the Arona City Council and the El Mojón Compensation Board agreed on construction in Los Cristianos. Almost 9,000 accommodation places will appear there, half of which are hotels and the other part are residential buildings.

It is also planned to build 245,000 square meters of roads and two parks, each with an area of 26,000 square meters. This is the largest plot of land in the Canary Islands that is going to be built up – almost a million square meters, and most of it (60%) is allocated for housing.

Three hotels, no more than three stories high, will be built in El Mojón. The density of construction will be significantly lower than the average for hotels in the tourist area. The same requirements will apply to residential buildings, which will be located between the highway and the Southern Hospital.

Thanks to this agreement, the Arona City Council will be able to issue building permits in El Mojón. This has been awaited for almost 30 years! In addition, traffic in the city will improve, as new streets will open.
