Arona Launches Crackdown on Nightlife Noise in Playa de las Américas

Balancing tourism with the rights of local residents has returned to the forefront of politics in southern Tenerife. The Arona City Council recently launched a series of inspections targeting nightlife venues in Playa de las Américas—an area long known for tensions over noise and overcrowding.

Coordinated by the Department of Urban Planning, the operation began at 10:00 p.m. with support from the Local Police to ensure the inspections proceeded smoothly. The move follows ongoing complaints from residents who say the noise and operations of certain venues are severely affecting their quality of life.

Inspectors checked whether businesses were operating within the terms of their licenses, with a specific focus on music volume. As a result, the council has opened several files that could lead to disciplinary action if violations are confirmed.
