Arona Hosts Canarias Surf Film Festival Finale Dec 12-14
The Canarias Surf Film Festival concludes its year with a free three-day event in Arona, Tenerife, from December 12-14, featuring film screenings, workshops, talks, and activities celebrating ocean culture, surfing, and skateboarding.
The Canarias Surf Film Festival is holding its final event of the year in Arona on December 12, 13, and 14. This festival will turn the town into a hub for people who love cinema, surfing, skateboarding, well-being, and ocean culture.
Staying true to its tradition of moving around the islands, the festival returns to Tenerife with a free program. It features film screenings, workshops, expert talks, and activities for all ages. This keeps the festival's core spirit alive, making it one of the most important cultural events related to the sea in the Canary Islands.
The event begins on Friday, December 12, with a skate workshop led by Vil Skate at Skatepark Las Américas, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Later that day, starting at 6:30 PM, Hotel Bitácora will host a talk and film session. This session is dedicated to 'South Swell in the Canary Islands,' directed by Emilio Megías, and will include screenings of films like 'Riding the Sardine Run,' 'The Red Island,' 'Little Canoe,' and 'Chasing the Unicorn.' All activities are free to attend until the venues are full.
On Saturday, December 13, the day starts at the Los Cristianos Cultural Center. A Vinyasa Yoga class by Eywa Wellbeing will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. This will be followed by a nutrition talk from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, titled "From Plate to Sea: How to Nourish Yourself to Surf with More Strength and Endurance," led by Yolanda Pascual. In the afternoon, Hotel Bitácora will again host the festival with the premiere of ADN by Vil Skate between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Immediately after, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, there will be another talk and film session. This one focuses on 'Las Américas Pro,' featuring José Fernández and screenings of films such as Modo Avión and The Road to Patagonia.
Sunday, December 14, will wrap up the program. It starts with a Yin Yoga class at the Los Cristianos Cultural Center from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Following this, an adapted skate workshop, led by Vil Skate in partnership with specialized organizations, will take place at Skatepark Las Américas from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. To say goodbye to the festival, the "Wipeout Party" will be held on the rooftop of Hotel Bitácora from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This festive gathering, with music and a relaxed vibe, will be the perfect end to three days celebrating the ocean and its culture.
With this edition, the Canarias Surf Film Festival reinforces its goal to share stories about the sea, encourage sports, and promote environmental awareness. It has become a place where filmmakers, athletes, families, and the general public can connect over a shared passion. The organizers invite both locals and visitors to enjoy this special cultural event, which is completely free and open to everyone.
The Arona program is supported by the Government of the Canary Islands, Promotur Turismo Islas Canarias, the Canary Islands Institute for Cultural Development, Canary Islands Film, and the Arona City Council.
