Arona will announce a tender for park cleaning worth 28.6 million euros after the previous agreement was canceled due to discovered errors in the documents, which sparked criticism from the opposition.

In Arona, preparations are underway to announce a tender for cleaning parks and squares. At the city council session, the previous agreement from July 31 was canceled, the documents were amended, and finally approved by the votes of the PP-CC-Vox and Nueva Canarias parties. The Más por Arona party opposed it, while PSOE abstained.

Nearly €28.6 million is planned to be spent on cleaning over five years. The city's mayor, Fátima Lemes, called it "the biggest news for the city in recent years."

The decision was corrected after errors were discovered a month ago. A technical report showed that there were shortcomings in the documents that affected the budget and the cost of the work. It did not take into account how much money the employees received under the previous agreement with the company that is currently cleaning the city. This was pointed out by a consulting company that the city authorities paid to evaluate the project.

The delay with the tender, which "cannot wait a second," was explained by "human error." Although this led to complaints from the industry association and the trade union. The councilor for environmental issues, Clara María Pérez, assured that the new documents received positive feedback from the finance department, the secretariat, and environmentalists.

The PSOE representative, José Julián Mena, criticized the authorities for paying "public money" for a document that was not taken into account in the first project. He believes that the issues are being resolved "late, poorly, and hastily," and that this undermines confidence in the authorities. Therefore, they decided to abstain, although they had previously voted "for" it.

The representative of Más por Arona, Pura Martín, reminded that they had asked to postpone the consideration of this issue a month ago. She believes that the new documents "do not improve either working conditions or the quality of services."
