Arona Finalizes 2026 Strategic Grant Plan to Expand Social Support Services
Arona City Council has finalized its 2026 Strategic Grant Plan, allocating funding to 36 social initiatives that expand support for vulnerable groups, including new programs for dementia care and home-based assistance.
Arona City Council has officially finalized its Strategic Grant Plan for 2026. This roadmap allocates funding to 36 social initiatives designed to strengthen the support network for residents across the Tenerife municipality.
The plan focuses on protecting vulnerable groups, managing dependency, and supporting local non-profit organizations. Key areas of intervention include disability services, gender equality, homelessness, cancer patient support, emergency response, and community outreach.
A major update to the plan is the expansion of dependency services. The council has introduced two new programs specifically for dementia and cognitive impairment, aimed at helping residents maintain their independence. Additionally, the new ARCA project will provide home-based support, including meal services, medication management, and help with daily tasks.
These services will work alongside the existing Roseta project to combat social isolation. Mayor Fátima Lemes Reverón stated that the strategy aims to better align municipal services with the needs of the community by focusing on prevention and local support.
By approving this plan, Arona is increasing the capacity of its social services to address the challenges of an aging population and the rising demand for home care. The initiative relies on close collaboration with local organizations to ensure that support reaches those who need it most.
