The Arona City Council is revising the park maintenance document because it does not take into account the labor rights of workers, which has drawn criticism from the opposition and is reminiscent of the situation with the 2025 city budget.

Yesterday, the Arona City Council decided to revise an important document regarding the maintenance of parks and squares. It turned out that it did not take into account important aspects related to the working conditions of the people who work there.

Previously, in July, almost all deputies supported this document, but then noticed that it did not mention the agreement between employees and companies. This agreement guarantees employees certain rights, such as seniority bonuses, a normal salary, sick leave pay, and time for trade union activities.

The city council's representative for environmental issues, Clara Pérez, acknowledged that there was a mistake, but said that the document was generally good because it had been reviewed by various experts. She also added that the mistake could be corrected, and if everything was done from scratch, it would take even longer.

Pérez reminded that employees have been waiting for a solution to this issue for many years.

The opposition, represented by José Julián Mena, stated that they are correcting the mistakes that were made during the preparation of the document. He said that the document was poorly prepared, and this affects the future of the employees.

Mena also noted that the city council hired a special company with taxpayers' money to check the document. This company found errors, but they were not corrected.

Mena added that Clara Pérez had lost credibility.

The document is currently being revised in order to put it up for tender again as soon as possible. This is a very important document for the city, as they plan to spend about 28 million euros on it.

This situation is reminiscent of what happened with the city budget for 2025, which also had to be revised due to errors.
