An Arctic air mass is set to bring a significant temperature drop and widespread frosts to mainland Spain starting Tuesday, while the Canary Islands will continue to enjoy mild weather.

Get ready for a cold snap! An Arctic air mass is heading towards Europe, and much of Spain will feel the chill in the coming days, according to the Spanish weather agency, Aemet.

However, the Canary Islands will be an exception, enjoying mild temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius.

Rubén del Campo, a spokesperson for Aemet, stated that "winter weather is definitely on its way. Arctic air will cause a significant drop in temperatures starting Tuesday, and we'll begin to see the first frosts then."

While the mainland braces for the cold, the Canary Islands will remain warm. The forecast for the islands includes some cloudy spells and a chance of rain in the north. This rain could become heavier and spread to other areas between Thursday and Friday.

Across the rest of Spain, temperatures are expected to drop over the next few days, though they'll initially be around the usual levels for this time of year.

By Thursday and Friday, frosts are predicted to be widespread across much of Spain. In contrast, the Canary Islands will see little change, with mild temperatures all week.

For Tuesday, Aemet expects some clouds, becoming overcast in the north and in inland southern areas later in the day.

Light rain is generally forecast for the northern parts of the mountainous islands, with isolated showers possible elsewhere. Winds will be from the north in the east and northeast in the west, with some strong gusts on the northwest and southeast slopes of the mountainous islands.
