
Architecture Week 2025 Kicks Off in Tenerife with "Rethinking Architecture" Theme
Architecture Week 2025, themed "Rethinking Architecture," begins today in Tenerife, featuring discussions on urban challenges, housing, regional policies, and the upcoming World Congress of Architects.
The Official College of Architects of Tenerife, La Gomera, and El Hierro (COA) is launching its Architecture Week (SA25) today, Wednesday, at 6:00 PM. This year's theme is "Rethinking Architecture."
The event kicks off with Iñaqui Carnicero, the central government's Secretary General for Urban Agenda, Housing, and Architecture, speaking at 6:30 PM. Following his presentation, there will be an interview and discussion covering today's challenges in architecture, housing, urban planning, and regional policies.
The COA Dean, María Nieves Febles, and Culture Representative, Elena García, will also present the World Congress of Architects, which is set to take place in Barcelona in 2026. Carmen Torres and Pau Sarquella from the organizing team will share details about the congress. The evening wraps up at 7:40 PM with a talk by Fernando Arocha Ferreiro and Deiene González Uriarte from FADG Estudio.
Tomorrow, Thursday, at 6:30 PM, Cristina Vázquez de Parga will discuss "Experiences in the Renaturalization of the City. Macro and Micro Scale." Next, Juan Palop Casado will present "Collaborative Urbanism. Challenges and Opportunities," followed by Rodrigo Vargas speaking on "Renaturalization Strategy for the Ravines of Santa Cruz de Tenerife." The day will conclude with a panel discussion featuring Luis Gutiérrez Valido, Nerea Martín Raya, and Javier Fernández.
Through this event, the COA aims to promote architectural culture and encourage thoughtful discussion about the future of our cities, offering a broad and inclusive viewpoint.
