Arafo Council Ignores Pollution Complaints, Neighborhood Group Alleges
Neighborhood group El Carmen Se Mueve criticized Arafo City Council for its continued silence on repeated complaints about noise, smells, and pollution from a Güímar Industrial Estate company, despite ongoing investigations and mayoral promises.
The neighborhood group El Carmen Se Mueve complained again yesterday. They said Arafo City Council's Urban Planning department still hasn't responded to their repeated complaints about noise, smells, and pollution. These issues, they stated, are caused by a company in the Güímar Industrial Estate.
The group explained that since last September, they have sent several requests asking for information and inspections regarding the company's operating hours.
The association pointed out that two official investigations have already been opened since 2023. They also noted that the mayor himself announced plans to request new environmental inspections.
"The right to breathe clean air and to receive information cannot be ignored by the city council," insisted El Carmen Se Mueve, as they demand transparency and strong action.
