The inaugural Golden Ring Awards in Santa Cruz de Tenerife celebrated the excellence of the Spanish audiovisual industry, with the series Anatomía de un instante emerging as the night's biggest winner.

The Spanish audiovisual industry has entered a new chapter with the launch of the Golden Ring Awards, held for the first time in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Organized by the Circle of Spanish Series Professionals and Womack Group, the event aims to highlight the cultural importance of a format that now serves as the primary entertainment choice for 65% of the Spanish audience, with over 800 hours of content produced annually.

Anatomía de un instante was the clear standout of the night. The adaptation of Javier Cercas’ novel dominated the ceremony, winning 13 of its 15 nominations, including Best Drama Series. The production team—led by screenwriters Rafael Cobos, Fran Araújo, and Alberto Rodríguez—along with stars Álvaro Morte and Eduard Fernández, swept the major categories.

Hosted by Elena S. Sánchez, Santi Millán, and Abián Díaz, the gala also showcased the variety of current Spanish programming. Carmen Machi took home Best Lead Actress for Celeste, while Poquita Fe was named Best Comedy. The documentary Esta ambición desmedida, which follows the artist C. Tangana, won in the non-fiction and soundtrack categories, and Carla Quílez was recognized as Best New Performer for Yakarta.

The event, backed by the Tenerife Island Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, and the Santa Cruz City Council, reached a emotional peak when actor Antonio Resines received the Honorary Award. The ceremony featured a performance by the Tenerife Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Diego Navarro, alongside musical acts including Belén Aguilera, Kiki and Soleá Morente, La Bien Querida, Ale Acosta, and Las Revoltosas.

These awards reflect a growing trend in the industry: moving prestigious events outside of major capitals to build a distinct brand for Spanish fiction. Once seen as temporary entertainment, Spanish series have become a cornerstone of the country's cultural identity. Hosting the event in the Canary Islands was a strategic choice, as the archipelago has become a major hub for film and television production thanks to its technical expertise and tax incentives.
