On Tenerife, police arrested a man with knives on a bus who was threatening passengers with suicide.

An unpleasant situation occurred on a bus in Tenerife on Thursday. The driver and passengers experienced a real scare.

According to eyewitnesses, it could have ended much worse if it hadn't been for two police officers. They helped calm the situation and prevent serious injuries.

It all happened on a Titsa bus traveling route 112 from Los Cristianos to Santa Cruz de Tenerife via the Southern Highway (TF-1).

Suddenly, a man, about 30 years old, a local resident, began to behave very aggressively. He insulted passengers, threatened them, and then pulled out a kitchen knife.

Of course, people on the bus were frightened. Some started screaming, especially children and women.

The man was standing in the middle of the bus, near the back door. Therefore, some of the passengers moved to the front, while others moved to the back.

He cut his hand and had blood on him. Then he put the knife to his throat and threatened to commit suicide.

At this time, two police officers were directing traffic nearby, near the Guimar tunnels, where an accident had occurred.

The bus driver drove up to them and stopped. She said that a man on the bus was threatening passengers with a knife and everyone was very scared.

The police officers entered the bus and approached the man. They asked him to show his hands. He hid the knife in his backpack and showed his hands.

One of the police officers took the backpack off him, and together they led the man off the bus.

The man resisted, argued with the police officers, and reproached a young woman who was sitting next to him.

He also insulted the bus driver. But when he was taken off the bus, he calmed down and sat where the police officers told him to.

The police officers called for reinforcements from the Civil Guard from the Valle de Guimar area, as well as an ambulance to examine the man.

It turned out that the man was 32 years old and lived in Punta del Hidalgo.

Two 30-centimeter kitchen knives were found in his backpack, and another 15-centimeter knife was found on his belt, under his pants.

Medics provided assistance to the man, but asked that the police accompany them to the hospital.
