Alejandro Morales Mansito Set to Retain Presidency of Tenerife Football Federation
Alejandro Morales Mansito is set to retain his presidency of the Inter-island Football Federation of Tenerife after securing overwhelming support within the newly validated General Assembly.
Alejandro Morales Mansito is set to remain president of the Inter-island Football Federation of Tenerife, according to local reports. Following the validation of the new General Assembly this Monday, it is clear that the current leadership maintains a firm grip on the organization.
The electoral outcome is effectively decided. The 120-member assembly—comprised of 60 club representatives, 24 referees, 18 players, and 18 coaches—shows overwhelming support for the incumbent. The voting data confirms this: Morales Mansito significantly outperformed his only challenger, Ramón Hernández Baussou, across all categories, including clubs, coaches, and players.
This leaves Hernández Baussou, a former associate of long-time leader Juan Padrón Morales, in a difficult position. His late entry into the race has left him with little time to secure the 18 endorsements required by the May 27 deadline. If he fails to meet this threshold, Morales Mansito will be re-elected automatically, bypassing the need for a formal vote.
Beyond the numbers, this situation highlights how challenging it is to build an effective opposition within regional federations. Morales Mansito’s control over the assembly is so strong that even if his opponent manages to qualify, a change in leadership remains highly unlikely. Barring a major surprise, the current management team is expected to continue its tenure for another term.
