Air Canada to Launch Year-Round Tenerife-Montreal Service in 2027
Air Canada will transition its Tenerife-to-Montreal route to a year-round service starting in June 2027, utilizing the Airbus A321XLR to enhance connectivity between the Canary Islands and North America.
Starting in June 2027, air travel between the Canary Islands and North America will see a major boost. Air Canada has announced it will turn its Tenerife-to-Montreal route into a year-round service, moving beyond its current seasonal winter schedule. This change officially integrates the island into the airline’s permanent global network, alongside its existing seasonal flights to Toronto.
This expansion offers more than just direct travel. By using Montreal as a hub, passengers can easily connect to destinations across the United States, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. The airline will operate these flights using the new Airbus A321XLR, an efficient aircraft designed for long-haul travel. The plane features 182 seats, including 14 "Signature Class" seats that convert into flat beds and 168 economy seats, ensuring a more comfortable experience for long-distance travelers.
For Tenerife, this is a significant step in diversifying its tourism market. Dimple Melwani, the island’s head of tourism, noted that year-round connectivity is essential for building a lasting presence in North America. Beyond traditional vacations, the route is expected to attract business travelers, the audiovisual industry, and the cruise sector, helping the island grow in these high-value areas.
This move is part of Air Canada’s broader plan to strengthen its international network by 2027.
