Air Canada is launching the first direct flights between Tenerife and Canada this autumn, connecting the island to Toronto and Montreal with four weekly services.

Air travel to the Canary Islands is set for a major upgrade this autumn with the launch of the first direct flights between Tenerife and Canada, operated by Air Canada. This new route bridges the gap between the archipelago and North America, supporting the Tenerife Island Council’s goal of attracting tourists who stay longer and spend more.

Running throughout the winter season, the service will connect Reina Sofía Airport with Toronto and Montreal with four flights per week. Service to Toronto begins on October 26, followed by Montreal on November 1. Air Canada will use the Airbus A321XLR for these flights—a fuel-efficient aircraft designed for long-haul travel, featuring 182 seats split between business and economy classes.

This expansion comes as North American interest in Tenerife continues to climb. The number of visitors from the U.S. and Canada reached 51,174 in 2025, double the 2019 figures, with strong growth continuing into the first half of 2026. With this addition, Tenerife now connects to 34 international markets and 159 airports, further cementing its status as a key Atlantic hub.

Tickets are available through Air Canada’s website, with prices starting at over 700 euros. Travelers heading to Canada should remember to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), which is valid for up to five years. With a flight time of under nine hours, local authorities believe this new connection is a vital step in attracting travelers who value sustainability and natural heritage.
