Afedes and the CaixaProinfancia program are collaborating in Icod de los Vinos to provide specialized therapeutic and educational support to 34 vulnerable families, aiming to break the cycle of poverty through a coordinated, community-based approach.

Supporting vulnerable families requires more than just basic assistance; it needs a collaborative approach. In Icod de los Vinos, the Association for the Promotion of Training, Employment, Information, and Development of the North (Afedes) is partnering with the CaixaProinfancia program to put this model into action. Managed by the ECCA Social Foundation and supported by the "la Caixa" Foundation, the initiative is currently helping 34 families in the Tenerife municipality this school year.

The program stands out by offering specialized services for children aged zero to 18. Currently, 25 children are receiving speech therapy, while 20 are participating in psychomotor sessions. Additionally, eight children and their families are receiving personalized psychotherapy to help them navigate the emotional challenges that often come with financial hardship.

A key factor in the program's success is its close cooperation with local schools. By working directly with teachers, the program can better identify and monitor the needs of students. This coordination ensures that support is consistent both at school and at home, which is essential for effective social inclusion.

Beyond direct care, the project aims to improve parenting skills and personal autonomy to help break the cycle of poverty. For Afedes, which has been working to promote equal opportunities and job integration since 1999, this project is a natural next step. By keeping children and their families at the heart of their work, the organization hopes to create lasting, positive change and more equitable opportunities for the community.
