Aemet has issued yellow weather warnings for strong winds and rough seas across the Canary Islands this Saturday as unsettled conditions persist.

Unsettled weather will continue across the Canary Islands this Saturday, March 14, following a week of disruption. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued yellow weather warnings for strong winds and rough seas, which will affect different parts of the islands in varying ways.

The main concern is a strong northeasterly wind with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h. This will primarily impact the high areas of the southwest, the southeast coast, and the western tip of Tenerife. It will also affect the southern and southeastern slopes of El Hierro, as well as the southern end, Los Llanos de Aridane, and the northwestern slope of La Palma. Coastal conditions will also be hazardous, with force 7 winds (50–61 km/h) expected to hit the west of La Gomera, the southeast of Tenerife, and the western and southeastern parts of Gran Canaria.

While skies will generally be clear or mostly clear, the north and northeast of the mountainous islands will see some cloud cover, which may bring light, isolated rain. A light haze is also expected, mainly over the peaks and southern slopes, though this should clear as the day goes on.

Temperatures will see a slight rise in minimums, while maximums are expected to drop. There is even a chance of light frost on the highest peaks of Tenerife. Aemet remains on alert for very strong gusts in mountainous regions. In Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, skies will be partly cloudy with some haze in higher areas. Across the region, daytime temperatures are expected to fall slightly to moderately.
