AEMET Forecasts Mild Instability and Light Rain for Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are expecting mild instability and light afternoon rain this Wednesday, though conditions remain typical for the season with no weather alerts issued by AEMET.

The Canary Islands will see some mild instability this Wednesday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). While the skies will be mostly cloudy, there are no weather alerts in place, and conditions remain typical for this time of year.

In Tenerife, the western islands, and Gran Canaria, cloud cover is expected to increase throughout the day. There is a high chance of light rain, mainly in inland areas during the afternoon, before the skies begin to clear toward the evening. Temperatures will remain steady, with Santa Cruz de Tenerife seeing highs of 23°C and lows of 18°C, though the northeast of the island may be slightly cooler.

These conditions are less likely to affect the eastern islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. At sea, conditions will become rougher in the afternoon, with north or northwest swells reaching one to two meters. Winds will remain light and variable, largely influenced by coastal breezes.

This type of weather is common under the trade wind patterns that shape the Canary Islands' climate. The steady temperatures, despite the cloud cover, are due to the Atlantic Ocean’s moderating influence, which helps prevent sudden shifts in weather.
