Adeje: Suspected Arson Spree Destroys 11 Cars

Authorities and residents in Adeje, Tenerife, are increasingly worried about a series of car fires that appear to be deliberate. In just over three weeks, eleven cars have been completely destroyed, and another four have been damaged across different parts of the town.

The latest incident happened early this Friday, bringing the total for the town center to five vehicles burned to ashes and three with damage. This recent fire occurred around 3 AM on Hermano Pedro street, a main road in Adeje. Adeje Volunteer Firefighters and crews from the Tenerife Consortium's Tejina station were called to put out the flames. Local Police and Civil Guard officers also arrived to secure the area and begin their initial investigation. The affected cars were parked in front of Entemanser, the water service company, and next to ongoing improvement works at the local cultural center.

This fire follows two similar incidents in the past month. On January 13, a hybrid car and two motorbikes caught fire outside a house in the El Galeón area, near the football field. Just four days later, in the El Cerco area, another fire destroyed three vehicles (a van and two cars) and damaged the back of a fourth. This also happened at night in the town.

Because these fires keep happening, security forces are stepping up their investigation. The Civil Guard's Judicial Police Team from Playa de las Américas, with help from the Forensics Laboratory, is looking into the cases. So far, evidence suggests most of these fires were set on purpose, which raises concerns about public safety in Adeje.

These repeated incidents have clearly alarmed residents in Adeje's town center and nearby areas. They are worried about this series of fires damaging private property and disrupting the community's peace.
